2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Coupe and Convertible

2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Coupe Front Exterior
The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette is supercar-fast, supercar-capable on the track and most certainly supercar-thrilling. Yet, it lacks some of the supercar ingredients we are accustomed to from the European competition; mid-engine setup, insane price, and refined car image that is usually associated with the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, and even an Audi R8. The new Corvette ZR1 is seriously good. It is undeniably the best Corvette of all time.

The 2019 Corvette ZR1 starts at $119,995 whereas the entry-level Corvette Stingray goes for $55,000 ($65,000 less than the Corvette ZR1). In essence, you are paying $65,000 for the suspension, aerodynamics of the vehicle, and the engine. The rest of the car is pretty much the same as with any Corvette C7. Don’t be disappointed, though.

How Much Of The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Is Actually New?

Dubbed the LT5, this 6.2-liter engine gained a 52% larger supercharger compared with the engine in the Z06, which wasn't the best with heat dispersion. Then, Chevy had to reinvent fuel injection supplementing the engine with added injection ports. All of it, of course, the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 now produces more heat and power.

Results?

Four additional heat exchangers compared with the Z06! The 2019 Corvette ZR1 has 13 radiators managing heat. Bugatti Veyron has 10. All the power can go at the back via a seven-speed manual or the ZF eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters. First ZF paddle shifter for the Corvette ever!

Considering that the LT5 produces 755hp and 715 lb-ft of torque, the 2019 Corvette ZR1 has more than enough credibility to tackle the heavyweights. Performance figures don't lie, the Chevy Coupe cracked 60 mph in less than 3 seconds and a top speed of an astounding 212 mph. The Chevy Corvette ZR1 Convertible, which is available for the first time since the 1970s, is a tad slower. Chevy noted its top speed at 200+mph.

Beautiful or justifiably shouty?

Stylistically differentiating the car from its mad brothers of before is an intricate aerodynamic package. Although crafted to provide the best possible downforce, Chevy actually offers two different aerodynamic setups. The Low-wing and High-Wing setup. Latter being a part of the new ZTK Performance Package. ZTK comes with carbon-fiber decorated aero-parts, massive rear wing, new suspension setup and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer-only tires. Cornering has never been faster and more exciting. As for the aerodynamics - you are looking here at 950 pounds of downforce
